Police stun Saunders

Saunders Sports Club , which suffered a heavy blow against Ratnam Sports Club in the first match of the Premier League were once again forced to accept defeat when the much fancied Police Sports Club recorded a stunning 1 goal to nil victory against them at Reid Avenue.

Defending champions, Saunders SC got off to a rather poor start loosing the first match while the second match ended in a nil all draw against Air Force. The tournament favourites faired well in the next four matches and won comfortably against Jupiter’s, Java Lane, Navy and Old Bens before facing their second humiliating defeat against the current table leaders, Police. Police won six matches, lost one and the match against Renown ended in a nil all draw.

Meanwhile Air Force had no trouble against the lack lustre Old Bens Sports Club who are yet to record a victory. Airmen booted three goals to seal their victory.

Interestingly the matches between Negombo Youth Vs Army (0-0), Victory Vs Renown (2-2) and Pettah Unite Vs Blue Stars (2-2) ended in draws. (CF)
