There is no gain saying, that some heads must roll, and roll they must, if Sri Lankan sports is to get the much needed fillip and the infusion of new blood. There is no point naming names. Those who follow the sports would identify them at the drop of a hat.

Most, if not all our sport bodies are afflicted with the same ailment. Too many parasites, warming the chairs for far too long, enjoying the plums of office, giving nothing in return, usurping the funds and sucking the blood out the sportsmen and sportswomen who sweat out to bring glory to the motherland. The fiasco of the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games is too fresh in our minds to write about.

The sports minister, young as he is appears to be greened horn yet and is falling easy prey to the machinations of the power hungry officials, administrators and even the coaches.

Dear minister, it’s time for you to act. take drastic steps to rid some of these sports bodies of its vultures and create an atmosphere conducive to our sports personnel to function efficiently and effectively.
